MR. PHILIP K.Y. LAU Philip practises in litigation (both civil and criminal) and dispute resolution, and has a particular interest in commercial litigation and arbitration. He has experience in commercial disputes including investment disputes, directors’ liability claims and contractual disputes. He has also developed practice in other civil litigation cases, including debts and monetary claims, land disputes, employment cases and personal injury actions.
Philip obtained his Bachelor of Laws at University of Southampton, with a first-class obtained in his dissertation. With an interest in international law and arbitration, he pursued his Master of Laws (International Law) at University College London (UCL), finishing his dissertation on the hotly contested South China Sea Arbitration case. He further worked as an intern at the International Criminal Court under the supervision of Mr. Benjamin Gumpert QC (now a UK Judge) dealing with complex criminal law issues. In 2021, he obtained his PCLL at the University of Hong Kong.
With a zeal in debate and public speaking, Philip took part in many mooting competitions, including Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Hong Kong Human Rights Moot and Haldane’s Criminal Law Moot. He was also an active member of the HKU Debate Society from 2020 to 2021. |
